The twinning association organises German and English language courses in alternate years. Each week-long course takes place in the relevant host country, and there are separate classes for beginners and advanced. Membership of the Epping branch may also offer an informal route to practising your German locally.<\/p>\n

Some Epping twinners \u2013 and no doubt other people locally \u2013 would like to take part in more regular German language classes or conversation groups. Unfortunately, there has been a reduction in German language teaching in the UK over the last few years. The traditional adult education providers (local authority and voluntary) offer nothing in Epping itself. And for younger people, many state secondary schools (including St John\u2019s, Epping) no longer teach German, although many independent schools continue to offer this.<\/p>\n

University of the Third Age (U3A) in Bishops Stortford (15 miles\/23 km) has a German group for older learners with some fluency. Participation would depend on availability, and require membership of that U3A branch.
