Garden Show 2022
Detail of the garden show
The Garden Show, which Eppingen had originally planned for 2021, had to be postponed to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In spite of this, the event was a great success.
Landscaping, exhibition areas and leisure facilities were created on an area of around 10 hectares (about 25 acres). Visitors had ample opportunity to meet, relax and unwind. And of course the twin towns were also involved.
The Garden Show took place over a number of weeks, during which time a dedicated team of Eppingen twinners hosted a variety of events together with their Epping partners. These took place in the designated area for Eppingen’s three twin towns. Epping’s stand caught the eye with its red British telephone box, relocated from the town centre for the occasion.
Among other things, the Eppingen association organised games of bingo, that peculiarly English form of entertainment.
Also on offer was a wide range of English culinary specialities. And there was a ‘Royal Ascot’ afternoon, when the participants adopted the well-known dress code for that occasion.
Some events laid on by the visitors from Epping were particularly popular. The sculptor Yohan Le Peuch gave live demonstrations of his art using the medium of Mühlbach sandstone. Victoria Robertson revealed herself as a skilled flower arranger, also encouraging visitors to try their hand. The Epping and Eppingen twinners then rounded everything off with a big festive meal together.
